Travel is one of the things that many people love to do. It is the ideal time to spend time with the people you care about.

But travel can be so much more than just a break away from routine and life. It is a chance to see different places, learn new things and even gain some perspective.

However, we can all be a little set in our ways when it comes to the locations we choose to travel to. Many of us will have some form of a bucket list of countries we want to see.

But what about the sights to witness and experience? I wanted to share with you some of the best sights this world has to offer.

The light show in the sky

There is something about witnessing something beyond this earth that will just have you in awe, and I believe that the Northern Lights is one of those things.

A light show in the sky, there really is like nothing else to see. Of course, it isn’t something that is there all of the time, and there are certain places in which you can see it.

This is when research into the best place to see the Northern Lights would be essential to avoid any disappointment. However, you could combine this trip with seeing some fabulous countries. Be that Finland, Norway, Greenland or Iceland.

The Great Wall of China

Maybe you like the idea of seeing one of the greatest wonders of the world, and also something that can actually be seen from space. Have you guessed it yet?

The Great Wall of China is a popular sight to see. Some people like the idea of the challenge of walking portions of it, and by doing so you will get to see some incredible sights.

Years and years ago, it was a form of a defence for China, and as years passed it also became a little like a border control.

These days it is a huge tourist attraction, and while some of the wall isn’t accessible, it is certainly a great place to visit and one for the bucket list.

The Great Barrier Reef

This may seem like a really obvious thing to do and perhaps one that is already on your bucket list, I won’t blame you if it is, but swimming in the Great Barrier Reef in Australia is definitely a sight to see.

With the coral reefs all over the world slowly disappearing this is one of those things that would be suggested to do sooner rather than later to avoid any disappointment.

The reef is off the coast of Queensland in Northern Australia, and it is the largest living thing on Earth. The distance is 2300 km and is home to countless species of fish, molluscs, dolphins and sharks.

Machu Picchu in Peru

Want something a little spectacular? Perhaps something you may have seen pictures of countless times or have witnessed in the movies?

Machu Picchu in Peru is definitely one to add to your list. Set high in the Andes Mountains this place is only accessible from hiking, but once you get there it is pretty sensational I am sure.

The sophistication of the build has had historians puzzled, and the use of the buildings still remain a mystery today. While you are there, Peru is definitely a country worth exploring.

Taj Mahal

There are some famous pictures of this place. Princess Diana of Wales was pictured here sat outside alone and is often referred to as the beginning of the end of her marriage to Prince Charles, the future king of England.

However, other famous faces including Jackie Kennedy, Oprah Winfrey and Bill Clinton fell for the charms of this beautiful white marble palace.

Located in Agra, on the south bank of the Yamuna River, you will find this iconic place and it is definitely one for the bucket list.

Just so you can sit on the famous bench and have that iconic picture taken.

Grand Canyon in the USA

When people think of the USA and iconic sights and places they want that are bucket list worthy, I reckon the Grand Canyon is one of those places people want to see.

Whether you see it from the sky, which is often the best way, or on a tour, there is no getting away from witnessing the geological history that is formed in these canyons of red stone.

Many people associate a trip to Las Vegas in Nevada to see the Grand Canyon, however, it is actually in Arizona on the border.

Either way, it is definitely a place to see and experience if you are taking a trip to either one of those states.

Religious sights in Rome

Rome is often associated as being a romantic city, and definitely a place to experience in Italy. Not just for the food, but for the fabulous religious sights.

You don’t have to be a devoted Roman Catholic to appreciate the Vatican. You don’t have to be religious to understand the beauty of some of the churches.

If you are a big movie fan you will know that some of the best films and books including the Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons are filmed in some of these iconic locations. Rome is definitely one for the bucket list.

The most liveable city in the world

Finally, perhaps this location is on your bucket list, but maybe not for the reason I have suggested.

Albeit for a seventh year running this city has been classed as the most liveable city in the world. Do you know where? Melbourne in Australia.

Melbourne is in the Southern state of Victoria and is definitely a city to be seen. From the fabulous city sights to the suburban areas. The beautiful beaches and the fabulous people that live in the locality.

I hope that this has given you some inspiration for some of the best sights to see in the world. Maybe you have added a few more locations to your bucket list.
