CRUISE TIPS FROM CRUISE SHIP PASSENGERS –THE INTERVIEW
This month I am interviewing Dave and Vickie that have cruised with Princess Cruises, Oceania, Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Norwegian and Holland America.
WHICH IS YOUR FAVOURITE CRUISE SHIP?
Royal Princess, as we like the newness and ambience and Oceania Rivera for the food, yum!
HOW MANY CRUISES HAVE YOU BEEN ON BOARD?
29 cruises.
WHERE HAVE YOU CRUISED TO?
- Caribbean (east, west and south)
- Alaska
- Hawaii and the South Pacific
- Mexico
- California Coast
- Panama Canal
DO YOU HAVE ANY CRUISE EMBARKATION TIPS?
Get there early so you can get settled before the dreaded safety drill. Lots of times we are unpacked and have had lunch before 3pm.

DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR DISEMBARKATION DAY?
Follow the instructions and you will have an easy disembarkation.
WHAT ARE YOUR PORT TIPS?
Get involved in the customs and traditions of the place you are visiting. Usually the people are very friendly and it’s interesting to learn about them, and of course try out the local food.

DO YOU GO ON TOURS?
Taking excursions from somebody other than the ship is risky but you can save a lot of money in doing so, just choose carefully.
DO YOU HAVE ANY CABIN TIPS?
Don’t be afraid of an inside cabin, the money you will save can be used on things far more fun. Having said that a balcony is sure nice when visiting places like Tahiti.

WHAT ARE YOU CRUISE BOOKING TIPS?
Shop around when booking, not all agencies charge the same price. Booking directly with the cruise line is convenient but rarely the best price.
WHAT ARE YOUR DINING TIPS?
Don’t be afraid to ask other passengers about their dining experience in the speciality restaurants before making the reservation. Some are worth the money others not.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE DO ON THE SEA DAYS?
Sea days are the favorites of passengers who are frequent cruisers as they usually don’t even get off the ship on port days. Read your newsletter and take advantage of all the offerings being offered on sea days. Read a book, make friends and chat or catch up on your naps, lol!
WHAT ARE YOUR CRUISE PACKING TIPS?
Lots of tips on the Internet on what to pack, consider if the ship has self serve laundry as that may dictate how many outfits you need. The women have a tendency to overpack, big surprise!
WHAT ARE YOUR TIPS FOR FIRST TIME CRUISERS?
Do your research on the ports you will be visiting, a good source is Trip Advisor, an excellent source for things to do, places to eat and lots more, check it out!
Have fun, “sea” you on board!
