It is called the hidden pearl of the city, as it is like you are not in the city. This is a great place to visit in Genoa for half the day, all day or for the evening.
Boccadasse is the hidden gem in Genoa as it has the same appearance of Portofino or Cinque Terre, but without having to travel far. If you have seen the Disney Pixar movie ‘Luca’ you will see the resemblance.

Boccadasse is located at the end of Corso Italia, a long street along the coast line in Genoa. Milan is approximately 2 hours away from Genoa by car or train.

How to get to get to Boccadasse?
There are serval ways to get to Boccadasse, it depends which direction you are coming from. From the centre of Genoa, Piazza de Ferrari it takes around 15 mins by taxi or car. A bus takes around 30 minutes all depending on traffic, or a very long walk that takes around an hour.

What is there to see in Boccadasse?
It was originally a little fishing village and it is tiny. You can spend all day here walking around the cobbled streets, sitting on the beach, swimming in the crystal clear sea and eat some fabulous food.
Boccadasse can be easily seen in an hour to walk around take some photos and have a gelato.
It is the perfect place to have lunch or watch the sunset over dinner. The pebble stone beach is a free public beach and it is very small, it is best to arrive early in the morning or late afternoon.
There are a few restaurants, bars and ice cream shops and there is the Church of St. Anthony of Boccadasse.

In the summers months it is hot, so wear comfortable clothing, a swimsuit and bring a cover-up for the church if you would like to go inside. Wear comfortable shoes as the walk ways are uneven and sloped.
