If you are heading to the Mediterranean on a springtime cruise, read this before you start packing, as the weather can be a little unpredictable. Here is what to pack for a spring Mediterranean cruise.
Before you travel, it’s also important to check your passport validity and whether you need a travel visa for any of the countries on your itinerary.
The months of March, April, and May in the Mediterranean can have glorious, sunny, mild weather or cold and wet!
Therefore, you need to be prepared and have the essential clothes on your Mediterranean cruise packing list to enjoy the cruise ports.
So, let’s get started and see what you need to pack!

Cruise Packing
Packing for a Mediterranean cruise can be a little tricky in spring as you hope for the best weather, but it is not always the case this time of year.
Depending on where your cruise is going, the weather will differ in the regions from the north to the south of the Mediterranean.
It is always best to check the weather before you go and the days leading up to your cruise.
Living in Italy, I can personally tell you that one week the weather is sunny and warm in Spring, the next it is raining every day and it is a little chilly.

Average Temperatures in the Mediterranean in Spring
Here are approximate daytime temperatures; these will vary depending on the port:
- March: 13 – 19*C (55 – 66*F)
- April: 14 – 20*C (57 – 68*F)
- May: 15 – 24*C (59 – 75*F)
The weather can be sunny and warm, sunny and windy, cloudy and warm, cloudy and windy, or rainy and windy. The wind normally makes it cooler.
As you can see, the weather really is unpredictable in the spring; therefore, packing layers, a rain jacket, and an umbrella are essential.

Mediterranean Cruise Hacks
- Weather: 13*C – 24*C (55 – 75*F)
- Stateroom: Book a balcony cabin so you can enjoy the sail-in and sail away.
- What to wear: Layers, comfortable shoes for walking, and a rain jacket.
- What to bring in port: A bottle of water, a camera/phone, portable phone charger.
- Languages: French/Italian/Greek/Spanish/English
- Cruise Port Tips: Have euro coins to use public restrooms.
- Important: Always bring your passport ashore if you go out and do not go on one of the cruise line shore excursions, just in case you miss the ship. As you will not be able to join the ship in the next port without it.

European Cruise Outfits For Women
On a spring Mediterranean cruise, the best outfits to pack are jeans/pants, a t-shirt, a sweater, a rain jacket, and sneakers for the port days.
Layers are the way to go; that way, you are warm if it’s chilly, but can take a layer off if it is warm.
If you are planning on seeing the sites in Rome, Barcelona, Florence, etc, there is a lot of walking, so wear comfortable shoes.
Leave your summer dresses at home; it is usually too early for those unless you are traveling in May.

Cruise Life
My cruise life has lasted over the last 19 years. For half of those years, I worked on board, and the other half I traveled as a passenger.
I started the website in 2017 as I thought it would be a great insight into the world cruise I was traveling on at the time, and it continued from there.
The website has expanded from cruise ports to all aspects of travel, from cruise travel to land vacations, packing guides to travel tips.
I have cruised the Mediterranean in all seasons, and I live in Italy, so I know what to wear in this part of the world and what each season is like weather-wise.
